The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame pays tribute to philanthropist Dotha Bushnell Hillyer, patron of a living memorial to her father, the Reverend Horace Bushnell. Dotha founded and oversaw the construction of the Horace Bushnell Memorial Hall in Hartford, dedicated to serving the community by insuring support for the arts, science, and humanities. A civic leader herself, Dotha championed the fight for tenement reform, and educational and recreational opportunities for immigrants brought to the Hartford area for war work. Today the Bushnell is home to the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
