America 250 | CT Theme: Tell Inclusive Stories

America’s 250th serves as inspiration for the people of Connecticut to share stories that represent all of its people, past and present. This commemoration is an opportunity to highlight stories from people and communities that have been historically excluded or marginalized. All of Connecticut deserves to see themselves represented in the state’s historical narrative.

Questions to Think About:

  • How have the stories of certain people and communities been excluded from popular state histories?
  • How does an inclusive approach to history complicate our understanding of Connecticut?

While there are many stories from Connecticut’s history that fall within the “Tell Inclusive Stories” theme, below are a few to get you started.
